SoccerWire Top 100 Girls Soccer Clubs

Absolutely idiotic if people then select a club on that criterion. That is like selecting a school based on how many Nobel prize winners came out of there. The school has very little to do with it and chances are extremely rare even for players at those clubs that a call up will ever happen. And if you are that good it doesn’t really matter which among the top clubs you join.

McLean is pretty far down the list given that there last two u18/19 teams either won or finished in 2nd place in national finals.

How is Loudoun ranked so high?

Lol, I wondered how long it would take for somone to gripe sbout pipeline just squeaking in.

Fair question about Pipeline. The club has three teams above u15 that are ranked in the top 10 nationally and they have the Armour DA.

Here is my guess. The better girls' teams for Pipeline are not older teams, so the club is up and coming on the girls' side. In years past, there were other local clubs (Premier) that had very high level team girls' teams when Pipeline did not.

Could not agree more. Let's see the methodology behind these rankings! Not arguing the merits of the teams selected, just curious.

That doesn't answer the question though. Someone posted that that was how they selected them. I'm not advocating for this as criterion. That said, anyone with facts?

Here are the facts. SoccerWire first decided how the team rankings should go for the teams, who to include and the ranking. They then came up with a model of a few factors that includes record, number of YNTs, etc. It is in a spreadsheet. They then tweaked the model weightings until it validated their ranking. So while they have a top 100 ranking, it's not based on any model. But they now have a model to use going forward.

This doesn't fit pipeline dad's narrative about the 05 pipeline team being the best.

Makes sense. I think we can pretty much junk both the boys' and girls' "100" list and take it for the little to nothing it is worth.

Perhaps it is due to their sheer size. Largest soccer club in NOVA and outside of ECNL, pretty successful. However, not very successful at the highest elite level mainly due to FCV which is exactly the opposite, i.e. not very good at other levels but the best at the highest elite level. Honestly, FCV shouldn’t even have boys team and should just have girls DA and really specialize.
