Got an ipod for Christmas! What to put on it?

I get new music ideas from TV. I don't watch a ton of TV, but the shows I do watch have music playing in different scenes and I've gotten ideas from bands:

the show House - the producers have awesome taste in music and music drives the key scenes

the Hills on MTV - yes I watch it - I have a family, a fulfulling career, great friends, and I work out and make home made meals so if I want to spend 20 minutes watching useless TV get off my back!!! They have a ton of music on this show, most worthless but a few good songs.

30 Rock - great show but I don't think I've ever gotten music ideas from it. But you get the idea. And some ads have good songs from popular/new music.

All the new music I listen to I discovered from TV commercials, movies, and songs played in stores. I Google the lyrics to find the artist, or use my Shazam app (awesome if you have an iPhone: it listens to and identifies songs). In the past couple years, I've fallen in love with Feist, Stars, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Pandora is great.

None of this is recent, but I think Vanessa Carleton has classical traning -- Julliard, maybe? I like her most popular CD (with Thousand Miles).

Another artist I LOVE is Poe. She hasn't released anything recently, but her first two CDs are terrific. I've been listening to them for years and I still hear new things almost every time -- especially on Haunted.

In a totally different genre: Lyle Lovett. Joshua Judges Ruth is a favorite as is his newest CD (forgot the title.)

Dinnerstein's Goldberg Variations and some "bootleg" grateful dead. (in quotations because they are now released legitimately).
