I think they sound good.

Just skim through Catcher in the Rye again and reconsider Holden.

Tell me your son’s name and I’ll find an equally horrid character or person with his name too.

OP, I love the name Holden and like Conor. Good choices!

what about Hudson and Conor?

I like that they're not matchy-matchy. I like Conor. I don't like Holden as much, and it has a trendy feel to it. But if you're committed to Holden, I think you could have done a lot worse.

I like them, and I don't even understand the Holden hate on this thread. (Yes, I know Holden Caulfield is an unsympathetic character.)

For me, I've noticed that names ending in -den are trending now (3 in my PACE group, and all over moms groups I'm part of online), probably as part of the surnames-as-first names zeitgeist, and it feels trendy. It's not about Catcher in the Rye.

I have a 19 year old Holden (my maiden name) and have always loved it on him! We never met another.

Great choices, OP. I love the Irish spelling of Conor!

My son is Hudson and I love it but I'd also consider Alden or Auden

You have to do the shout test - both names together - different orders - 5 times. If it passes for you it is fine (personally, I do not think this passes the ease of calling test)

Agree with PPs that if I were to object to one it would be Holden. (Although I have a Conor so I’m biased there.) If I think too much about it I can make the case that they don’t go together but I think in reality they actually sound fine together—especially you love both names. And I do like H & C together as initials.

I think this yelling test thing is dumb. Who decides on their kid’s name by thinking of how they will yell at them?

Do your kids play sports, do you not cheer them on while on the sidelines? Or when they are in a different room, do you not yell for them to come join the family for dinner? The yelling is not a negative connotation.

They whole Aiden/Jayden/cayden/Brayden etc. trend has been going on for at least 16 years. It’s been that long because my oldest is 15 and we’ve been surrounded by -den kids since he was a baby.

Right, but I'm specifically talking about the surname/faux-surname -dens. Holden/Linden/Camden/Alden/Auden/Arden/etc.

Aiden got way too trendy but it was always a first name, as were its variants. They're not trendy anymore, they're passe.
