How much do you tip your hairstylist at holiday time?

Pp brings up a good point or two. What really bothers me is why we are expected to tip people for simply doing the job they are being paid to do. Tipping used to be about giving someone a reward for going above and beyond.

Now we're expected to leave a tip at Starbucks for them simply taking our order and handing us our coffee. Part of the problem is the biz owners who pay below minimum wages and expect clients to make up the difference.
