| Another vote for getting it removed. I got an IUD just to avoid what your kid is going through. Best thing I ever did, but I am an adult. Not sure if teens can get them? |
| They were never meant for middle or upper class women in the highly industrialized world. It was expedited so that it could be given to poor US women and women in the developing world because someone decided the side effects were worth fewer poor babies. |
| I don’t know what is with BC these days. DDs have had non stop periods for moths and docs are all like that’s ok it’s normal etc etc. But nothing like that happened back in the dark ages when I took the pill. |
| ^^ or you anyone I knew. |
| Eh, I think it’s not surprising when we think of all the things we thought were okay, even healthy in the past. |
+1. Hate your doctor for recommending that and I don’t even know him. |
+100. |
|
Get it removed ASAP.

Try a low dose BC pill. My athlete DD loves these because they no longer think you need to take the placebo pills so she can run the packs together to avoid getting her period during big conmpetitions. |
| Your daughter’s doctor is nuts. Get that implant outta there! |
|
Sweet Jesus the list of "less serious" side effects is daunting.
NO man would put up with those side effects, daily, to prevent pregnancy. https://www.rxlist.com/nexplanon-side-effects-drug-center.htm
Bleeding every day? I guess that would be effective contraception for me.... bleah |
| My DD got this implant as a teen and had a great experience. She is about to get another one in college. She gets almost no periods and no side effects. Many of the girls in her private school got them to avoid any pregnancy risk in high school and college. Not right for everyone but these and modern IUDs have substantially reduced teen pregnancy and saved the futures of scores of teen girls. |
Except for the ones who experienced these side effects and might have missed days and days of classes due to nonstop bleeding |
| Can she take regular birth control pills or the mini-pill? I know it’s a daily pull to remember but if you make it part of your evening routine it fits in pretty easily - brush teeth, wash face, take birth control pill. |
