Have you done everything by Gillian Flynn? Dark Places is even darker than Sharp Objects (I thought so anyway), but it was good. Gone Girl I think is the lightest one but it's also good. I'm a fan of Stephen King and he usually gets really good narrators for his books, so I'd check out any of those. He also narrates some and while his voice is a little odd, I did enjoy it. If you like crime fiction, Michael Connelly's books are good, and Titus Welliver (who plays Bosch on the Amazon series) narrates the more recent ones. They're easily digestible. I love the narrator Edoardo Ballerini, and I discovered him while listening to Pandemic, which is like a Hot Zone type book about a deadly virus (fiction). It was really engrossing. You and Hidden Bodies were both good, although I thought You was better. Santino Fontana (Hans from Frozen) does the narrating and he's really good. If you want a funny and amusing book, the Martian (movie starring Matt Damon) was REALLY good. I loved the movie but the book was better. All the Light We Cannot See is another fabulous good. Different from the above but very well done. Another author you may like is Jonathan Kellerman. Kind of like Michael Connelly in that he does crime fiction, but from the point of view of a psychologist. We've listened to a lot of the same audiobooks so I hope you like some of these! |
+1 for Liane Moriarty. What Alice Forgot is still my favorite, but I've liked them all. Never listened to any on audiobook, though, so I can't opine on the narrators, but they're great Kindle books - easy reads. |
I would recommend The Emperor of All Maladies and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Also The Great Influenza. |
