Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Rockville?

I wouldn’t use Blue Pearl again. We were referred to them by our vet in November for 24 hour IV monitoring when our cat got an URI and stopped eating and drinking. Our vet doesn’t provide 24 hour monitoring. Blue Pearl blind sided us with all these tests they said they needed to run (our cat is 9 and not a pillar of health) that all seemed very unnecessary and beyond what our vet ordered. The doctor on duty was cold and rude as we kept stressing that we really just wanted to follow our vets orders and seemed very put out when we asked how much it would all cost (well over 1k)! We felt ignored (they didn’t listen to what we needed), passed around (the shifts change every few hours and info doesn’t seem to get passed along) and held hostage (no one would return our calls to get our cat discharged). We tried getting them to call us back for over SIX hours (after the time they said they would call to give an update). They never did call so finally we just drove there late on a Friday night to discharge our cat or we would have paid for ANOTHER night that was unnecessary. By this point I was wondering if anyone was even keeping an eye on him. Oh, and of course, we paid the “high” end. It was ridiculous. All we were there for in the first place was 24 hour IV monitoring. Very unethical how they run their business. I will never ever go back.

Is Blue Pearl what used to be the Hope Center?

We used Hope 2x which I believe was formerly Blue Pearl. Both times it was an emergency, so while expensive, we didn’t think it was outrageous. They were really pleasant and seemed knowledgeable compared to other emergency vets we dealt with. Recently our dog needed orthopedic surgery that our own vet couldn’t perform, so we called Blue Pearl. They were very upfront about costs and gave a range. The price was astronomical but the same as the only other 2 places we compared to. In the end we went to Skylos in Frederick because they specialized in the procedure. If your pet is looking at orthopedic surgery, I highly recommend Skylos over Blue Pearl. But again, assuming Blue Pearl is the same as Hope, we had a good experience.

Yes.

Metropolitan Animal Hospital in Rockville is another emergency facility. Cheaper than Blue Pearl. I took my dog there in an emergency (dog attack). I wouldn't take a dog there for advanced illness. It's strictly emergency care.
