It's not just the calories consumed. I had a DRASTIC dip in my physical activity due to laziness/work/cold/pie coma, etc., and this contributes also. I think it happens to a lot of us as the weather turns.

NP here. Thank you for making me smile despite the fact that I managed to gain 5 pounds since Halloween, and about 9 lbs in all of 2009. I've generally had a good metabolism my whole life, and work out generally 4-5 times per week--but this year everything went to hell for some reason. To inspire/terrify myself, I watch the show "The Last 10 Pounds" and see the difference 10 lbs makes in appearance. I'm short so those 10 lbs look like crap on me--I am terrified of being seen in public. I'm giving a presentation at work tomorrow and don't think I"ll fit into any of my "go-to" work outfits. That will be me at the podium, in the muumuu.

I've been on an "eat less, work out more" plan for the past 6 days. I'm hoping to she the love handles by Valentines Day. UGH

I got to believe that the big snow storm and generally cold weather added to comfort eating in the past month or so. It is so much harder to exercise when it is cold outside, even you work out at the gym or run on a treadmill.
