Star Wars - What to Watch Before Rise of Skywalker

wait, so baby yoda isn't actually the yoda we know from the original trilogy?

I HATE the prequel trilogy with a fiery passion. Episode 1 came on TV the other night and I watched 20 minutes of it with my teen before just saying "Nope, can't ever watch this crap again" I thought #3 was so bad, I almost called to demand my money back from when we rented it.

I am not really a huge fan of the new trilogy either, even though I HAVE to see it end, as a fan of the originals. Kind of annoyed that they are continuing to keep Carrie in them, though. I am curious to see how in the world they manage that this time. Her loss still guts me.

I actually am not a huge fan of Rey and DEFINITELY not a fan of Kylo Ren. He is possibly the LEAST scary villain ever, with his toddler-esque meltdowns and crappy halloween looking mask.

No, Baby Yoda (The Child) is not actually Yoda.

If we knew the name of Yoda and The Child's species, we'd call him that. Since we don't, we just say baby Yoda.

ok, chill - I was making a jokey joke. My goodness. I wasn't mad at you personally. It was a general statement.

OP, I think the original trilogy then episode 7 the force awakens. Is enough. These huge lists of movies are overkill. The prequels are bad and not needed to understand the 9th movie.

To answer your question they used unreleased footage from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, edited her clothes, keep the dialogue, and put her in The Rise of Skywalker.

The Mandalorian is set after Return of the Jedi, so not the Yoda we know from the original movies

You need to see the Last Jedi. Whether you like the movie or not, you will need to see it to understand the latest movie.

this is true. episodes 1-3 (the ones with Natalie Portman; Anakin Skywalker, Jar-Jar) are just awful. They should be permanently banished from existence.

You are not going to understand 9 if you don't see 7 and 8.

Best to skip the Last Jedi and the Force Awakens if you still want to be the fan of Star Wars. In fact, nothing of import happened in either. There is no story story arch they are following, at all.
