What is your guess on percentage of people who cheat?

Early-40s now I’m finding nearly all of my friends have at some point and no one has been caught. Yet.
Shocking.

Are we friends?

Exactly my experience. No idea if anyone has been caught or not but everyone is still married.

So funny that people's projections are taken seriously here.

There is a recent post on this forum, which cites actual data. It is much lower than what people are guessing on here.

because you can totally trust surveys that randomly call people and ask them if they've cheated on their spouse. there's no way people might under report that? Of course everyone who has cheated has admitted that to a random researcher calling on behalf of a religious studies organization.

I only know myself so 100%.

Ycch, I don't know how many of your can look at yourself in the mirror.

The mental gymnastics that must go on in your head if you think your love is any prize.

This forum is also biased and the fact that like minded people hang out together means that majority of your friends cheat. Therefore, your data is just as biased if not more. So national anonymous statistic is the best source of information.

35% of men
20% of women

^^ btw, this is me randomly guessing, lol

I feel pretty confident, as a big player for years, that at any time at least 20% of married women are: up for cheating their first time if the right circumstances presented themselves, are actively cheating with at least one OP, or have cheated before and are open to doing it again. The percent is higher if you include this group along with anyone who has EVER done anything considered cheating in their marriage, regardless if they ever repeated it again.

Nope. Big nope. It's nearly the same for women as men. Maybe a point or two higher for men, but not that big of difference.

The General Social Survey (Univ of Chicago, data since 1970s) has been pretty consistent throughout the decades. Most recent one: 20 percent of married men and 13 percent of married women admit to cheating.

this is the key

Right, but the estimates produced by scientific surveys are a hell of a lot better than DCUM guesses.

Over time, they are also pretty good barometers of trends and between group differences.

+1. Agree with all that you have stated. Moreover, men consistently cheat at a higher rate than women (across many surveys).

I thought the same. Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggert are the leaders of the moral majority

No, they're not. For every famous "televangelist", there are millions of faithful Christians behind the scenes you'll never hear about that are 100% devoted to their spouses and families.
