I am always on the search for a new lip product... but my current favorite is Korres lip butter in Guava. Yummy smell, nice consistancy and less "bad stuff" like parabans. But a little pricy. It comes in other "flavors" and most have a tint.
Here's a link to it at Sephora: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P199109&categoryId=B70 |

Burt's Bees and Aquaphor. I must have ten tubes of Burt's Bees stashed in various locations and use it to keep my lips from getting chapped (and I live in a very dry cold northern climate). Aquaphor does a great job healing very chapped dry lips.
I would stay away from the "medicated" balms as they seem to have little added benefit and can irritate some people's lips. |
| i hate the smell of carmex. i use aquaphor. |

The original Burts Bees with peppermint makes dry lips worse, as peppermint is a known skin irritant. The honey and pomegranate are okay, though.
I personally love Mode de Vie's Karite Lips Shea Butter Balm, but it is so hard to find. Whole Foods sometimes sells it, and Amazon Marketplace has it too but with pretty high shipping prices: http://www.amazon.com/Mode-De-Vie-Karite-Lips/dp/B0006NXS28 |

My doc told me that wax in a product (like Chapstick) and anything mint will dry and irritate.
OP, can't you just make sure you wear a lipgloss all day? I find them long-lasting and act as a sealent so lips don't dry out. Plus, some color. |
OP here -- thanks for all the great suggestions. Who knew about tartar control toothpaste
I'll try all the new ideas and report back if any one cares. |
| Lansinoh - it's for chapped nips from breastfeeding, but man does it work for chapped lips. I use it ALL winter. |
