gifts from us and santa - biggest gift is always from santa
our presents are wrapped - santa doesn't wrap - i learned this from dcum and its great! |
Gifts are from us, Santa and grandma. Everything is wrapped. Unwrapping is half the fun. I’m not impressed by the lazy DCUM parents who don’t wrap Santa gifts. Everyone knows the best moment of Christmas is coming downstairs and seeing all the wrapped gifts and being so excited to open them you can’t even decide where to start. Unwrapped and out in the open (unless it’s like a bicycle or giant easel or something) is so anticlimactic. |
Santa doesn't have time to wrap. One red bow on the big santa gift, and then a filled stocking.
All other gifts are from us. |
Being lazy sure is easy. |
Ha! Yes, I always think this too about unwrapped gifts!! I suppose the kids don’t know the difference? |
1. This is the first year my kids (Ages just turned 5 and 2.5) have been into Santa as they were either scared of Santa or indifferent or too young to know up until now. But I think we’ll do 1 big gift + stockings will be Santa presents and the rest from us. 2. Santa presents, being both big and things that will take awhile to be assembled, will not be wrapped and will be assembled and ready to play w 3. All other presents (from us and from other relatives) will be wrapped. |
No presents are from Santa. |
Stocking is from Santa and everything in it is not wrapped. One family present from Santa unwrapped under the tree (this year a jigsaw puzzle - we will be away with elderly relatives and this will give kids/grandparents something they can do together). |
One big gift is from Santa. It's usually wrapped in different paper, or put in a big bag with a bow.
I don't make a big thing about of it though - if kid (age 4) asks I tell him that gift is from Santa, but if he doesn't ask, we just go with it. He may assume all are from Santa now that I think about it. We never laid down the ground rules ![]() |
1. Both
2. Unwrapped, usually assembled, unless assembly is the point (like Legos)--usually Santa takes the hard to wrap items though. 3.Yes, wrapped and under tree with presents from relatives |
OP the important thing here is to do what works for you and that you want to continue doing for several more years.
In our house Santa brings the gifts for DD ( 7). We do not give her gifts but we buy for other family members and they buy for her. We have a Santa sack but the presents are also wrapped, I think its fun to unwrap presents so thats why we do this. If you dont want the mess, don't wrap. Do what you want to do and keep doing it. |
Santa makes sure kids have nice undies and sock and pajamas! I pad is from mom and dad! All wrapped, all under the tree Christmas day. Presents from Santa marked from Santa. Though... maybe I over did it with ds. Called me from college, clearly drunk one night, to ask me to confirm that Santa is real |
I am not impressed by parents who make their kids sit and wait for the boxes to be opened/wires and plastic clips to be cut/screwdrivers to be located to get the batteries in (which may also need to be located), assembly to occur. That kills that moment of seeing the gifts for sure. |
How sad. Your kids have nothing to wait for, to look forward to, just now, now, now, now, now, now, now, now.......Nothing better than enjoying the morning putting all those toys together, its called family time. |
Santa brings 1-2 presents -- usually one of the things they really asked for. He uses different wrapping paper than us (I've taken to using plain metallic paper for his). The rest are from us. |
