Because you do you and they do them. Really? This is a problem?

I would have taken pictures now to avoid the crowd and post them close to Christmas.

Post them now is crazy. I don't feel the holiday season in the air yet.

Plus, the novelty wears off before Dec even begins.

Same. And I feel like it's starting this "I like christmas more than you."

I LOVE CHRISTMAS. So much. But we will decorate the day after Thanksgiving.

It's obviously the way its going to be from now on. November 1 is the first day of the christmas season. I hate it.

I can see getting the Santa visit out of the way early so you (a) avoid the craziness of pre-Xmas at the mall, and (b) have time to use the pics for your xmas cards if you still do them.

But then again, I've been listening to Xmas music on my headphones at work since the day after Halloween and I'm already haunting the candy aisle at the drugstore for Xmas-specific candy. So I might be beyond help.

+1. I'm with you.

Pfffttt. I already had my Christmas card photo shoot. I do it mid November to catch sales on the card sites. I already have my cards back, addressed, stamped, and ready to drop in the mail the day before thanksgiving. And I do santa photos early as well.

I will cop to watching xmas movies on the treadmill at the gym. Too good to pass up!

Same here. I won't mail them until December though, but my photographer gets backlogged quickly.

Anonymous wrote:The calendar is strange this year. We normally do most decorating the weekend after thanksgiving but if we wait that long this year the decorations will be up for only about 2.5 weeks (we leave the day after Christmas for a week). So I will start with some decorating next weekend.

It is a longer November/later Thanksgiving than usual, so I agree on this front- we'll probably get our tree Thanksgiving weekend instead of when we usually get it, the weekend after. But yeah to those who are already "done" decorating and shopping and wrapping, what do you do then in December?

This is different IMO. Everyone does photos in October and November.

Decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving is tacky. Most people who do that have some issues.

There are 6 houses in my neighborhood with exterior lights on every night. The houses look like they are decorated for Christmas with white Christmas lights. I can't think of anything else that they could be decorated for. Its way too early for Christmas. 97.1 WASHFM is playing Christmas music!!!!
