High level boys and girls are both very sought after by college coaches, but girls physically mature a couple years before boys do, so it's much easier to project at the start of HS what level they'll be playing at down the road. |
LOL, more like $150 per school camp. $400 would be in line for the mega camps with 50 assistant college coaches attending. But if you pick out a couple of schools it is much cheaper than $400. |
No college coach thinks (s)he has or wants any relationship with a U12 or U13 player or their parent. You developed a delusion. |
If a school is is including 12 year olds in an ID camp, it means the coach wants a fancy new car..... |
Agree with this. This is what we saw with are older male relatives. Commitments were end of Junior year/early Senior year. Boys are still changing so much. My 14-year old has size 11 feet and is currently 5'4". His predicted height is 6'2" which he most likely will not reach until closer towards the end of HS like the other men in his family. |
EXACTLY! Great job fundraising Coach! |
Yes, and talked directly to head coaches and were invited back with "discounts". The camps range from 40-200 for single day camps only. Too many think the coaches are doing the recruiting. The parent player needs to do 99% of the work. It doesn't take thousands, or even a thousand. It takes a little time and work on the families part. |
+1 |
$400. Don't look at the youth resident camps. Look at the single day ID camps. Some are multi day, but we have avoided those because of cost. |
Discounts for camps are recruiting violations. FYI |
There are exceptions |
| Attending ID camps at a young age only provides cash for the programs. A 12 year old players isn't going to be the same at 15 or 16. The players who are that good at 12 top out and are passed by the ones who will be the top players at 15. |
No, there not exceptions for ID camps. If it is just a run of the mill camp sure but any camp advertised as "ID" must apply the price equally otherwise it is considered an official visit. The school can only pay for any expense or discount as part of an official visit. Just understand that breaking those rules puts their ethics on full display so don't expect much in terms of honesty form them going forward. |
This is just nonsense and often wishful thinking from B team player parents. A 12 year old kid does not get worse at 15. Puberty can be unkind but puberty does not discriminate and usually has a level of detrimental affect for ALL girls across the board. Average kids are just as prone to get big hips and even slower than are the standout 12 year old kids are. Skills tend not to diminish but athleticism can and that cannot be predicted. |
What's this about? Plenty of great soccer players and sprinters with curvy hips out there... |
