OMG - yes. I watched it when it in a theater with my now DH when it originally came out. We both left the theater and drove home in silence. So dark and unexpectedly depressing.

I've watched Babe recently and didn't find it particularly dark. I wonder if maybe you only remembered the sweet and funny parts, so you were surprised. I don't know, my 7 year old son knows that meat comes from animals, so that part isn't shocking. Now, make a charming family movie that shows where our meat REALLY comes from, and I think I'd wait several years to show that to my kid. Talk about dark.
