Mommy cliques

I don't want to downplay your desire to have friends. We all need people in our lives.

Speaking as someone who has older kids now and didn't have a mommy clique, I think I missed out on a lot of drama. A lot of stages and relationships are very transient.

Once my kids are a little older, I'm hoping to reconnect with friends I had before kids.

If a mom is picking up her child from a playdate at my house, and it's close to evening time, I'll invite her in for a glass of wine. That always helps.

Except... she’s hoping to reconnect with friends she had 5+ years ago. Not sure that’s realistic for most people. I know I was hoping to meet some friends when my child entered preschool, but that hasn’t happened. Waiting for elementary school now. I have tried other areas but nothing had turned into a real friendship.
