Do you let your kid go on drop-off playdates if you don't know the family?

Starting in elementary yes. I mean, of course I know them a bit to arrange the play date etc. We have likely texted and all that. But I need to be close friends with them.

Sorry that should say don’t need.

My son is in Kindergarten, and we have not done any drop off playdates yet. We have not been invited to any playdates yet for Kindergarten this year. But I would only allow drop offs if I got to know the family well. I'm not sure how that would work exactly. Maybe I would stay for the first playdate or two and then see how I feel. But I'd also want to see how well the kids play together before dropping off. Some boys (not my son) can be really rambunctious and if that's the case I don't want my son playing with another boy who is wild.

No. But at that age most play dates we did involve meeting at a playground, hiking trail, museum, etc. No one went to anyone’s house until 1st or 2nd grade, and only with families we knew.

No and no sleep overs either.

No. You have no idea if they are gun owners or have a “funny uncle”!
