| Nextdoor isn't anonymous, though, or is it? |
No, thank god. |
| Ugh, all the far-right conspiracy theory conservatives in my neighborhood use it to trash liberals, and spread fake news. It sucks. |
| Mine is more like a personals section. It’s sort of sleazy. |
Hmm. We have the reverse in our neighborhood. Apparently we aren’t supposed to disapprove of pumpkin smashers. |
| Any of you who aren’t familiar with Best of NextDoor on Twitter need to check it out. It’s pretty great. |
Lol! There are definitely NextDoor “bullies.” |
I was just coming here to post this! |
| I find it pretty useful. I've sold items using it, gotten recommendations for services, crime advisory stuff, learned about a lot of community events of interest. I also enjoy reading crazy ppl threads as well, for entertainment. |
We were advised not to participate in Halloween at all, it invites in the Devil (yes, this was a NextDoor thread in my neighborhood this week) |
| Hmm, ours in NW DC is pretty reasonable so far--lots of neighborhood event postings, people looking for services, occasional car break-ins, lost dogs, etc. Haven't seen any drama. |
Lol! What? What neighborhood and what are these posts like? I live in practically Siberia (N. MoCo) and ours are contractor reccomendations or lost pets. Not much else. |

You can engage with next door as much or as little as you want. I read it periodically but don't feel compelled to read it every day. I do find some of the posts interesting/useful. There are definitely some annoying posters (one person who is constantly promoting her pet sitting business, and some other very frequent posters) but you can skip those posts and comments.
I didn't know you could delete neighborhoods, I will give that a try. I am in Bethesda near the river so by radius it seems to include a bunch of Arlington neighborhoods which are less relevant to me than my adjacent neighborhoods. |
Haven't seen that one, but have been informed about not using the webbing stuff (kills the birds), only buying orangutan friendly candy, providing adequate allergy free candy options, and more. Halloween is becoming very stressful with all the dos and donts. Then the day after Halloween there will be posts about how to get rid of all the candy because even if it is orangutan friendly the children can't possibly have more than 2 pieces of Halloween candy. |
| It’s great for finding handy men and contractors. It’s also been good for reading about school board issues and figuring out which of my neighbors are transphobic racists so I can avoid them. |
