stupid question about impeachment inquiry depositions

I heard an interview with Rep Denny Heck the other day. He said that Dems and GOP each get 50% time to ask questions, and that most of the questioning is being done by committee attorneys (although he also said members ask a fair amount of questions too). So these GOP complaints that the process is unfair are just BS.

No. There is no cross examination.

Dems claim that this is like a Grand Jury.

Big difference, though. A Grand Jury is in secret. This is not. Everyone knows who the witnesses are.

And, to those saying the GOP has been quiet over this. That is not true. They have had a presser almost every day--at least, every time there is a witness.

They have also asked that the transcripts be made public. Dems say no because it is a "Grand Jury." Interesting. Schiff lied in his opening statement about the phone conversation--when the phone conversation contradicted his statement.

So, you're upset about the process? What about the facts as they are emerging? Do they upset you? If not, I'd take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself what kind of a person you are willing to have as president.

This is more like the investigation that occurs before the grand jury than it’s like the grand jury.

You are like the burglar who trips in someone's home while robbing them and then sues for their injury.

OP - Your question is far from stupid. Glad you asked it.

I don't know the facts and neither do you. We are not allowed to see the testimony.

For those who are complaining about the Dem's process, you should be asking about why Trump has obstructed at every turn ever since the investigations were launched into Russian interference since Trump took office. Blocking and intimidating witnesses is against the law.

The House has every right to dictate the process - the Executive branch has no say in it. Period.

Very wise of you, to decline to have an opinion. Take good care of your blood pressure, take good care of yourself.

So you somehow have internet access but you didn't see the WH released summary of the phone conversation, read the whistleblower report, or see trump say that he asked ukraine to investigate biden, or see him ask china to investigate the bidens? REALLY?

The evidence has already been shown to the world that trump asked for an outside country to interfere and then applied financial pressure to force them to. Trump told us himself, then ASKED for China to interfere!

This inquiry is digging in to exactly how it happened - who did what and when.

That there was fraud and treason are not in doubt. The question is how many people were involved and exactly how the schemes worked. Who's money paid for it and why.

Wake up.

The testimony from their prepared statements is enough. Not to mention what has come out of Trump's mouth. Focusing on process is just a distraction.

The GOP is free to cross examine during their EQUAL time questioning the witnesses.

Transcripts will be made public at the appropriate time. But right now this is an investigation and witnesses aren't allowed to hear each other's testimony.

Be patient, grasshopper.

I had this thought the other day when it seemed like they all turned up the volume on squawking about "The Process" and when Gaetz pulled that stunt to get kicked out. It's quite obvious what is being said in there is not good, and this is their plan to compensate for the fact they can't "leak" anything helpful to their cause.

No. This is not a normal hearing.

No one said these were “normal hearings.” They’re depositions. The Republicans on the relevant committees are present and able to participate.

Normally, presidential candidates disclose their tax returns.
