This. I'm also the "safe" one. I handle everything emotional and I am somehow in charge of "the talk", which is ongoing. I thought dh could handle that, but my ds is more comfortable discussing things with me. I'm happy he feels he can talk to me, but it can be draining at times.


Yep. I am the safe person also. It can be wonderful and it can be completely draining. I finally broke and told my son that he had to show me the happy version of himself sometimes also. It actually made a big difference. He still comes to me to complain, but he also gives me moments of being content.
