There appears to be a second whistleblower

“House Ways & Means Chair Neal said he’s consulting lawyers about whether to make public a complaint by a federal employee about possible misconduct in the IRS’s auditing of Trump. Employee alleges “inappropriate efforts to influence” the audit process.”

“An Internal Revenue Service official has filed a whistleblower complaint reporting that he was told at least one Treasury Department political appointee attempted to improperly interfere with the annual audit of the president or vice president’s tax returns, according to multiple people familiar with the document.”

"The whistleblower, a career official at the IRS, confirmed in an interview with The Washington Post this week that he had filed a formal complaint and sent it to the tax committee chairs in both houses of Congress, including Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), and to the Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration on July 29."

Grassley was very involved in creating whistle-blower protections, back in the day, and is supposedly a big defender of whistle-blowers. Except when it's not convenient...

Not sure about this, but Grassley has been defending the IC whistleblower. See the “Signs of Republicans Turning on Trump” thread.

Perhaps this whistleblower is not credible or the complaint is bogus.
There are lots of "whistleblower complaints" that we never hear about because they are not worthy.
So, this whistleblower goes to the press to get attention.

He did, probably because he realized he had ignored the first one (tax) and concluded it would be hard to avoid two of them, and what they indicate regarding Trump. See what I mean?

Right! Trump would totally be OK with the IRS auditing his taxes! I mean, they’ve already been auditing them for decades, know what I mean?
