Yes, sometimes, because it is my phone- not hers, I pay for it. I just let her use it.

I trust her, but I don't trust all the outside garbage that can come in through phones, so I check it periodically.
Plus young teens are just learning how to navigate the online world and need direction occasionally of what is appropriate vs. inappropriate.

What do you mean by language violations? Swearing? Do you seriously police your teen's phone for swearing with his/her friends? Hope you enjoy being alone. if you treat your kid like that, they will hate you for life.

I do once in a while for my 12 yo. She doesn’t give me reason to but a few months ago I started seeing texts from a friend (I don’t know the girl) who was asking DD to send screenshots of her completed homework. So we had a talk. Glad I had checked her phone.
