| Adidas are big too. |
My MS girl and her friends all wear Converse. I haven't seen Vans on any of them. |
Well la dee da to your girls. Vans are NOT cheap. Do you seriously think $50 shoes are cheap? Are you super wealthy? I say who cares what your snotty daughters and friends think! |
NP Compared to the $120+ Kyrie 5 and Jordans the middle school boys all wear, yes. |
Vans are cheaper, and lots of MS girls wear them. They’re cute. But lots of girls wear other shoes (Nike, adidas) and I haven’t heard of anyone being made fun of for their sneaker choice. |
My middle school girl and her friends wear both. Most have more than one pair of shoes... Vans, Converse, and striped Adidas are all very popular. |

This summer, my 6th grade DD was told by a “friend” who was 1 year older that to be “popular” at their school (close in NoVA), she had to have white Vans. Other types of sneakers were okay if she didn’t care about being popular.
Thankfully DD rolled her eyes and laughed her head off to me later, but that was before school started. I haven’t broached the topic with her and she hasn’t mentioned it, but I have no problem buying them for her if she’s having issues and they’ll make life a little more bearable. |

My 6th grade DD has a pair of black vans with a white stripe and a pair of "classic" Adidas white sneakers with grey stripe.
She had 2 pairs of converse last spring / summer [purchased at outlet store and there was a promo so we got 1 pair of high tops and 1 low] Her friends wear a collection of mostly sneakers right now - Natives, Keens, Asics, Adidas... When there are a pile of shoes at the front of the house - there are never 2 pairs that look exactly alike. |
| What about Toms? Weren’t they all the rage way back when? |
| Vans or Converse. |
APS... |
| My kind of hippie kid wears a pair of Teva closed toe sandals everyday... but my kids school culture is pretty laid back about fashion |
| My 6th grade likes Vans, Birkenstock’s, crocs, adidas, and jack rodgers. |
| slip on or low top vans, birkenstock sandals, crocs, adidas superstars or ultra boosts, nike air force ones, steve madden, uggs boots and slippers |
| My teen girl wears converse, birks and a pair of tory burch flip flops. My teen boy wears vans. They are both very popular, but not because of shoes. They are kind and outgoing. |
