Man here - my wife recently cut her hair from shoulder length (which I love) to something much shorter. When I told her I preferred it long she gave me the death stare. I didn’t say I didn’t like it but I should have said nothing. But, if I said nothing she would have said didn’t you notice and I would have had to say something. It’s his head, not yours.

To put a positive spin on it, show him the photo that you thought he looked hot in & say THAT is what's attractive to you & if he went back to that hairstyle, he'd find out how attracted you are to it.

He'll go running back to the barber, trust me.

Over the years, my wife has asked me my opinion of her appearance on a number of occasions when she didn't really want my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I think long hair looks great on some men, just not on my husband.

If he asked and you shrugged, you already did tell him you thought it was unattractive. He can do with that whatever he likes. Hairstyle was a particular point of contention between my parents, don't go down that road or you will end up married to this guy
