we had a great experience with windows on washington. no pressure, and by far the most professional contractor we have dealt with during our unfortunate bout of repair issues

OP she was falling for it. Guy gave discounts off sky high prices and did pretend to call manager to get more, turns out he can on a Saturday so I would be home now all at once it was two against one. Fighting off salesman while trying to stop wife who wanted to buy cause the price only good today, |

I’ve gotten to the point where I tell them to stop the sales pitch or leave immediately. They can stop. They just continue. So I walk away and say - you need to leave now.
|
| OP, sorry your weekend was ruined but thanks for the heads up! I will avoid that company |
| One time I had to lead the salesperson out the door by making up a reason I needed to show him something outside, then quickly turned, went back inside and locked the door. |
Same experience with us for windows on washington. Had two other "high stress" window pitches (won't see us without both parties there, takes HOURS, still calling over a year later!). The windows on washington rep did not care that my spouse wasn't available there, there was no "special" price - the price was the price was the price. We found the sales team and contractors excellent and recommend them to anyone who ever asks about windows in the area where we live. When we have to get our upper windows replaced within the next 5 years or so we will be calling them again. |
| WHy is there such a racket in the windows business? Same when I go to a county fair or similar festival -- there are people offering windows there (and someone selling a gutter guard). Every time. Is this super-lucrative? |
Commissions. |
Sounds like you felt emasculated. |

We did American windows and siding in Virginia and it was low pressure. I don’t even remember pressure.
We got windows made in Michigan. We ended up moving shortly after but I think everything went fine. |

She's mad because she felt she was gathering useful information, and was still interested in hearing more, and you "over-rode" her. You steppped in and said, "That's enough" when she was the one who agreed to the evaluation and was still talking to the guy.
Ultimately, yes, sounds like quite the scam. But that's the kind of thing you discuss and decide TOGETHER; you don't just barrel over her and say, "I'm the man here and I've decided that the little woman here is getting duped." It would have taken you 5 minutes to pull her aside and show her some Google results and tell her that you are half of this decision-making process, and you are 0 percent comfortable and are in no way going to agree to anything within mere hours of starting this discussion. |

You sound seriously unstable.
You really need to work on your anger issues. If you can't end a sales call without all this drama you really need to work on yourself. Are you always this controlling? |
In other words, spend five minutes mansplaining. |
| American Windows and Siding. Fairfax. (I think they may have other locations). |
| We used the Window man and LOVED them. Great prices and good quality windows. We also had a similar experience with Thompson Creek but my husband laughed the guy out of our house. My husband used to be in sales and point out every tactic that they were using. |
