Why to "TJ" parents always think they need "TJ-specific answers to questions." Your kids are not really some breed apart from all others.

Because they "think" they are. They will learn as kids go thru college and post college education that their kids are not THAT special.

This applies almost ALL state schools including Uva, UM, and GTech. The only exception might be Berkeley (providing you can sign up for the classes you need).

This is ultimately what we decided - even with a scholarship that covered about one year's tuition, room and board. However, if I had a CS major, maybe it would have been worth it. My DC decided to go to an in-state school and retain some 529 savings for grad school.
