2019 Summer Vacation Reviews: where did you go, recommendations, don’t s

South County, Rhode Island, was surprisingly nice. Like a lower-key, greener, and much less crowded Cape Cod. Would recommend.

Perfect for families!

What ages are your kids and what is there to do there? Just curious because it looks gorgeous online but not sure if I. Plus keep the kids busy.

We were there too - though camping - this summer. Middle school kids. Awesome hiking, great animal sightings, if you have paddleboards/kayaks - lots of beautiful lakes to do. White water rafting. Horseback riding. Banff is a fairly bustly city with some great restaurants. Jasper is more low key but still plenty to do. Can al also walk on glaciers. Plenty of adventure activities.

We spent a week between Vancouver and seattle with kids 6 and 3 and 1 grandparent. Highly recommend. We also threw in a day trip to Whistler. Stayed in Airbnbs like we always do. Was one of our most perfect vacations as a family. There was something for everyone.

Went to Punta Mita in early June. I loved it, wasn't sure what to expect, but it was super relaxing - just beach time, pool time, and eating time.

We frequent cape cod bc we have family there.

The tornado was a rarity...

The sharks are a real bummer. But there are nice bay beaches and so many nice ponds. We did a whale watch for the first time that was outstanding.

What is the deal with the sharks? My friend mentioned it and I actually thought she was having an anxiety issue. I didn’t realize it was true!

Sharks are a real thing on the Cape but we go to the bay beaches where it is much less of an issue. We also frequent the ponds on the Cape, which are lovely (my kids prefer the ponds) and are great for boating.

The resident shark expert (Greg Skomal) has said that the shark activity this year has not increased but sighting and reporting has. So more beach closures and media attention.

Iceland — a big yes! Spent a week there and really could have used a few more days. Great outdoorsy vacation.

London in June - Yes! Perfect weather, tons of fun stuff to do.

Florida Keys in late June - No, dreadful, miserable, don’t recommend.

Oahu and Kauai in August - Yes, highly recommend. Time change and long flight is hard, but weather was perfect and there were so many things to do for the whole family. I can’t wait to take them to the big island next time.

Road trip to South Dakota and Wyoming. All the major sites. Badlands, Custer, devils tower, Yellowstone, grand Teton. It was all pretty spectacular.

Caribbean cruise. It was great. Something for everyone to do.

What did you do in Vancouver?

+1. Considering a trip to Vancouver either in the winter (combined with skiing at Whistler) or late spring. How many days would you recommend?
