Camden aquarium: is it safe to go there?

Camden SUCKS! No doubt about it. I’m from NJ.
However, the Aquarium is totally fine. We went last year and just drove in and drive out. Kids had fun. They have hippos, which is kind of cool. Worth a stop if you’re in the area. |

| Another Philly native here. Camden is an armpit BUT the aquarium is good and my kids love it. It is totally safe to go to the aquarium, and the Battleship NJ if it’s still right there. Just don’t tour Camden and you will be fine. |

Oh my goodness this thread is overwrought. The aquarium is fine. The hippo exhibit is good. You can walk around outside it and near the waterfront without fear. You can even have lunch in Camden if you want. The Battleship NJ is cool too and right nearby.

| The comments earlier were so ridiculous. It has its own parking lot. You drive there, walk in. It's like you're in any suburb's big box store lot. It's not a big deal. It's a fine aquarium. The hippos are great. It's doable with small kids. Places like Georgia Aquarium are SO overwhelming you get less out of it in the end. Plus the waterfront area is nice, and you can cross over to the Philly waterfront for part of the day too. It's a nice day out. Kids from all over NJ go there for field trips. No one thinks the school bus is going to be hijacked. |

I had my high school prom at the Camden Aquarium and shockingly we all survived. Phew!
This thread is so ridiculous. If you would go to the Aquarium in Baltimore, you will be just fine at the Aquarium in Camden. Just like in Baltimore, I don't suggest you go wandering around aimlessly at night, but stay in the tourist area and you'll be fine |
