Parental coaching at the pool

Apparently, they feel like as if they should be allowed to swim over young swimmers who had the lane first. It is not even safe. There are six lanes at our pool. Why can't swimmers wait until a lane is free!?!

Most pools I go to have etiquette guidelines that swimmers split the lane if there are two of them or that they circle if there are three or more. Maybe they can’t wait if they have to get to work/an appointment/other event. Swimming lanes aren’t like exercise machines ie multiple people can use a lane.

This is what my pool does. You don't get your own lane if there are multiple people who want to swim laps. You have to share. I actually prefer to circle rather than split if there are two because I am used to the circle approach from swim team when I was a kid.

At our pool all lanes are marked as very fast, fast, medium and slow. If parents are working with their kids from the deck, they usually would take the slowest lane. Not sure why there would be a child mastering strokes or doing drills with a parent in a lap lane (unless it's a very fast swimmer doing laps himself)
