still doesn't make sense, as the schools for each special program (side bar, left) are all over the place and not necessarily by the color coding on the map

Well, there you go. That's where they got it from! It's a funny picture because the "Key" shows the colors that match up to the DCC and NEC, but shows no information for the other colors! But this confirms that the graphic was not created for anything related to the boundary analysis and so the colors basically mean nothing.

Actually, the title of the website says "Proposed Regions." So I would not automatically dismiss the color coding as being completely unrelated to boundary analysis.

It says "Proposed Regions - Career Readiness." And the title is "Career Readiness Map of Schools". How the map shows this, I don't know. But that's the title.

Good sleuthing. Per that link, looks like these are proposed clusters for new programs. Maybe the maps show the "regional" programs for each color coded area.

I'm the sleuth and I suspect these zones are just to ensure that each "zone" has all of the 11 or 13 career readiness options. I wouldn't necessarily assume it goes beyond that.

Has the county said how much they are going to pay for this to get done. They keep saying they may not do anything about it once it is done. So I am very curious how much of our school budget is going towards this.

This needs to stop until MoCo gets back on its economic feet. Doing anything that spooks away potential buyers and makes Montgomery County even less attractive is just suicide right now. Doing a study and then being cagey that they may or may not do anything is even worse for the real estate market and property tax revenue stream.

MCPS doesn't care about your property values. Even if the prices of homes go down in MoCo they will ask for more money from County or state.

Nor should they. It's Montgomery County Public Schools, not Montgomery County Property Value Maintenance Service.

If buyers are spooked away from this county because they might have to go to school with other county children who aren’t white or Asian, I don’t think that’s the county’s problem.

“Segregation is Good for my Real Estate” is not going to work as a slogan.

No, this is the Request For Proposals. Companies will respond with bids.

They should just pay for white and Asian people to have kids. Clearly this BS is all about spreading them around because someone has decided there aren’t enough in some clusters. It could be like a homesteading program - pay the white and Asian people a bonus if they agree to breed and send their kids to Paint Branch or Kennedy.

It absolutely will be the county’s problem as real estate values decline in Montgomery.

So much of these gerrymandered boundaries were part of the county's social engineering (segregationist) policies from decades past. Glad to see they're looking to end these archaic policies and integrate the schools.

It's at least equally likely that real estate values countywide will increase. Not that real estate values should be relevant to MCPS boundary decisions, either way.

Actually Paint Branch has a decent Asian population that is pretty reflective of the County demographics: 13.3

The County Council should care.

the latest - $2.6 billion allocation from county is above school board’s funding request

Anticipating additional state funding, the Montgomery County Council on Monday added $16 million to the amount of money requested by the county’s school system for its 2020 budget.

School system starts sinking.
People lose money on their homes.
The county doesn't attract people with money to raise the tax base, leaving less money to fund the school system.

You must think the schools function in a bubble. lol
