Diamond Rust’s attorney said she cannot sue WMATA for alleged civil rights violations because metro is protected by law.


The WMATA Compact, which is the transit authority’s guiding document, has language that Rust’s attorney said gives the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority immunity from being sued even if one of its officers is found guilty of civil rights violations. The WMATA Compact reads the transit authority “shall not be liable for any torts occurring in the performance of a governmental function.”
That means if a citizen has their rights violated by a metro transit officer, WMATA can’t be sued.

Bored kids get up to stupid crap and “even better” if you can film it and get your 15 min of fame. White boys in my DH’s home town drop stuff off bridges although they have caused broken windshields and crashes. No one is suggesting keeping white teen boys from using the bridges.
