I address ILs by first name.
DH addresses my parents as Mr. and Mrs. He hates it. But that is what they requested. They're old asian immigrants. |
| Before kids, I called my MIL "Mom A" (initial of last name). Post kids, I'm happy to call her Grandma instead. She's 85, so she's actually old enough to be my grandmother! |
| Always the formal pronouns (in French), and Grandpa/Grandma since we had a kid. |
| Grandma and Grandpa |
|
I called them aunt and uncle when we were dating.
I wish i can continue to call them that! |
| "Mrs. First name", and after 2 years into marriage she asked me to call her just "First name" - I do it but it comes hard in my mouth....I don't feel confortable at all. |
|
first names from the day we first met.
|
| I call my IL "Mom" and "Dad". I might not do this if both of my parents weren't dead, but I like having a Mom and Dad even if they are totally different from what my parents were like. No one wants to be an orphan even a very old orphan. |
Satan and Satan's Husband. Oh, or by their first names.
|
| I call my MIL "Ms. ______". She has never asked me to call her anything different, and I don't feel comfortable calling her by her first name unless she states she would prefer that. When she has called here and I pick up, she says "Hi, this is Ms. ______". But, she doesn't really like me. My DH calls my parents mom and dad. |
| first names. "mom and dad" is just super weird to me. i can't do it! |
|
To their face? |
| Mine asked me to call them "mom and dad" when we announced our engagement. I tried it a few times, but WAAAY too weird. Now its just first names or grandma/grandpa |
DH's parents are divorced. I call his mom "crazy psycho bitch" but only in my mind or when gabbing with the girl friends, otherwise its by her first name or her "grandmother name" that my children use (which is just a diminuative of her name as she is too vain to be "grandmother" or any such thing :roll . I call DH's Dad and stepmom by their first names.

| Mom and Pop. I don't even remember if they asked me to, or if I asked them, or what. It is normal to me though because my father (an orphan) has been calling my maternal grandparents "mom and dad" all my life. |
