considering trying stitchfix or something...what was your experience?

Stitch fix is crap. They just send a bunch of tops. I can go buy tops. I cannot, however, create an outfit: shoes, jeans, completer pieces.

TRUNK CLUB IS AWESOME! A remix-able wardrobe and great pieces. My husband loves it too! It is not too expensive. We are average middle income people and we get a trunk 2-3x a year. It’s the best!

I'm not familiar with Trunk Club but checked out their site--looks like you can do in-person shopping in DC: https://www.trunkclub.com/womens (Scroll to bottom)

I tried StichFix recently. I really liked everything in the first shipment and kept it all, but I have barely worn any of it. One shirt ended up being more low cut than I normally like, so I’m not comfortable in it. A pair of jeans are slightly longer than I like and are torn skinny jeans, and I’m also just not totally comfortable in them so I don’t wear them. A blazer I got is cute, but I don't have anything that looks that great with it so I've only worn it twice. I didn’t give any feedback on the shipment (my fault, I just forgot since I’m really busy) and when the second shipment came last week, I didn't like anything so I’m sending it all back. I honestly think a lot of it looks like stuff I could have picked up for far less at TJ Maxx. I will likely be cancelling my subscription going forward.

I'd make an appt with a personal shopper at Nordstrom. You can tell them exactly what you're looking for and they'll put 20 items or so in a dressing room for you. You can specify the price points you're looking for, and your style. I've done it twice and both times ended up getting things I would never have picked out on my own. Both times I also ended up spending more than I intended, but that's on me.

Every single piece of stitch fix clothing I have ever seen is ugly and looks like it came from TJ Maxx. A bunch of my coworkers use it and they’re constantly sending back their entire order
