FROST MIDDLE ISSUES

Anonymous
My understanding is that at least half the students left early today. There needs to be better communication from the school

Graduation went on. Two police cars were outside. Word on the street is the youth making the threats is being sent to another school for those with emotional issues and will not attend Wootton this coming year.

There are a number of issues with the admin there. Like the time they left the students out in the sun too long and many suffered heat related issues. About a decade ago during a safety drill

My kids were there then. This event was really blown out of proportion. There are not “a number of issues” there.

01:58 the fire dept had to treat 2% of the kids for heat related issues. The kids were not evacuated to WHS as per protocol. MCPS silenced the principal who said he did not know how far away WHS was. Their properties touch.

Good news is the student making the threat is being sent to the school for emotionally disturbed students. Twain school - no longer Front or Wootton next year.

Like most MCPS high schools, Wootton's graduation is at DAR Constitution Hall. There's no way any of the school facilities could hold the three thousand attendees. Plus, DAR is really an elegant setting for such a milestone event.

You do realize that every MCPS had their graduation on the football field for decades, right? Some still do. I know Damascus still does.

Graduated from a MCPS high school in the mid 80's and we graduated at DAR. I agree it's a terrible choice, but they have been doing it for 30+ years. It's incredibly difficult to get down there with traffic, find parking, deal with getting older family members in and out, and get enough tickets for family. I wish they would move all of the graduations to someplace in Montgomery County or the XFinity Center at UMD like several schools have been doing in the past few years. The problem with a football field is contingency for bad weather or sweltering heat.

It's Alternative Programs, and it's not for ED kids. It's for level 2s and 3s - those who chronically misbehave. ED programs are placed in various schools across the county, and it takes a lot to code a kid ED.

I graduated RM in the last 80's and we had it on the football field. What school was using DAR 30 years ago? It is absolutely a terrible option.
