| That's a big statement OP. I mean Maryland drivers are awful. remind me never to go to Miami. |
No, it really is a melting pot of different cultures. Older residents from NY/NJ tend to be in Boca or Palm Beach County. In Miami, it’s a huge mix of different cultures and driving rules. A lot of machismo. I was hit once by a lady with no insurance who tried to pay me off on the spot. I couldn’t believe she tried to bribe me ($100) to ignore the huge dent in my car and dangling mirror. My lawyer was unfazed and said it’s very common - offer some money, everyone drops it, your neighbor buffs out the dents. Maryland is delightful by comparison. |
Stop driving at/below the speed limit and on the left lane. Slowpoke |
OP here. I have lived in so many states. This place is better than India but that's all I can say. You notice the driving starts getting better once you leave Miami. There's a huge difference in Fort Lauderdale for example. I don't know anyone from NYC BTW. They must be closer to the beach. There are lots of recent immigrants here. My suburb especially is known to be the craziest. The police don't seem to care. |
Wow this person is definitely from DC. Thinks the world only revolves around DC. |
| Floridian here. South FL drivers are truly awful. FL is a no fault state so you file through your own insurance, so uninsured drivers get away with a lot. Add in a mix of old people, tourists, people from a variety of countries, a vanity culture, abysmal urban planning, and the fact you can’t run a simple errand 10 min. away without getting in an interstate, and this is what you get. |
Op here. Thank you for clarifying. I am new to South Florida. It has been very eye opening! |
Every single time I go on dcum there is a racist comment about Central Americans. It’s so weird because whites have a reputation of being fat and lazy, but here you are disproving stereotypes! Although pretty sure you’re still super fat. |
Pp how is this racist? I am Arab American and the drivers in Kuwait are really bad. It's a known fact developing countries have less traffic laws. |
Pp has obviously not traveled to South Florida. The drivers are awful. |
Miami is Central American in ways that are great and not great. Driving there is not great. |
| Most people move to Miami from the northeast and two things happen. They are old and can’t see over the steering wheel anymore and they believe that not using a directional signal is a constitutional right along with stopping in the middle of the street when you are lost. |
OP, have you ever driven in Manhattan? Miami drivers are old ladies compared to the crazies up north. |
DCUM is full of Trumpists today. |
OP here. This is a huge misconception. Look at the demographics of Miami. The majority are NOT from the northeast. I think it's less than 12 percent are non Hispanic. You're getting Miami mixed up with south Florida perhaps. |
