At least we poor Chevy Chasers know our grammar! Oh, sweetie. |
My daughter has been very happy at Silver Creek. The teachers are very open and willing to meet with students at lunch and after school, and they have helped my daughter through some assignments that have been difficult for her. There are some fun, teacher-led after school activities, as well as some evening activities (some for families and kids, some for just the kids) that seem to be popular and well attended. The brand spanking new facility is beautiful. I have found that planning for the transition to B-CC High School has been a bit rocky, but I think that's mostly because it's the Silver Creek faculty's first time at this rodeo (this is the first 8th grade class at SCMS). Overall, a positive experience. |
My son is in 7th grade there and loves it, particularly Advanced World History. The teachers are energized and motivated and it rubs off on the kids. I highly recommend this school. Dr. Townsend is an amazing principal. |
There are more disadvantaged kids at Silver Creek than Westland but its not a high % of school overall and it was still rated four stars by scores. In fact in math, it was one of highest. The whole idea is this by mixing, it has positive impact all around. As far as CC and private schools, there has always been a high % of CC parents who opt for private - it’s a wealthy privileged area - has nothing to do with Silver Creek. You, unfortunately, sound both low intelligence and low sophistication so you should speak/write less and listen more to your wiser peers. |
Glad your happy, just be aware the number of Chevy Chase Parents opting for private is because of the Chevy Chase Section 8 kids who all go to silver creek. Silver creek is more Kensington and silver spring than Bethesda or Chevy chase That's funny. We live in the Town of Chevy Chase and the two Silver Creek busses that pick up only within the town are so full they can't have friends ride home with them after school. Stop being such an ass. Doesn't matter where the kids live, they are all just kids no better or any worse than any other. |
Any particular focus on teaching executive functioning skills that are important for high school success. My DD has ADHD though relatively well managed for elementary school level presssures. We're wondering how things will be come middle school and high school, and if they do anything to help kids learn organizational skills. |
Annnnnd once again the "liberal" parents of sanctuary Montgomery County show their true racist side.
I have gotten to the point where I cannot stand the hypocrisy of liberals. |
Hypocrisy of rich liberals! Ha, there are still plenty of us middle and working class liberals who live on the “wrong” side of the tracks — i.e. Newport Mill, not Silver Creek. |
That's funny. We live in the Town of Chevy Chase and the two Silver Creek busses that pick up only within the town are so full they can't have friends ride home with them after school. Stop being such an ass. Doesn't matter where the kids live, they are all just kids no better or any worse than any other. I am also a long time ChCh resident and have never heard any ChCh parent complain about the "poor kids" or even mention the race of any kids. (Not that parents living in the Rosemary Hills and Rock Creek Forest districts are universally poor.) Yes, there is a history of parents in the cluster sending kids to private, but that is largely for family, social, economic and prestige reasons NOT anti-integration sentiment. Many of the private schools have more diversity than Silver Creek or Westland. All of the parents I know, as well as the kids that I went to school with in the BCC cluster after integration, are grateful to live in a school district where there is both a diversity of SES and race/ethnicity AND good academics, because we know both can and must go hand in hand. I opposed the current matriculation pattern for Westland and Silver Creek, not because having diversity at Silver Creek is bad, but because I believe that it is terrible for kids in this day and age to be raised in largely white and wealthy schools. If any school is a "problem" in this cluster, it is Westland, for the privilege it enables. Current kids in the cluster have long complained about Wasteland because of this atmosphere. |
It's true they made Westland 100% white and privileged. I'm really sad about that. Those kids are snotty brats. I know of which I speak. Very sad.... |
Westland is 65% white. |
62.4% according to the latest at a glance 14.8% Hispanic 9.8% black 5.8% Asian 5% MU ESOL and FARMs are very low. |
Say what you want, Westland got what it wanted and all the east county school in the BCC cluster no longer track that way. They now all go to silver lake while destroying the main park in a nice area In the process. At best it is the 2nd place middle in the BCC cluster, but I am sure that is good enough for the families simply happy to not be in the DCC. |
Are you a Russian bot? You write like one and sound like a racist shit-stirring troll. |
Oh, this comment is gold. I wish Jeff would make a button on this site where we could just click and respond with this. |
