| A strategic alliance is not a merger. |
The new league will be the Extended CCL and NCSL — ECNL |
So ECCLNCSLECNL? |
so what do you think it will mean then? |
Probably showcases or a revamped tournament where it’s teams from those 3 leagues combined |
Ah, ok. So, not a whole lot. That's too bad in my opinion. From my experience with both in the last few years, I think it would make sense to merge them. We can see from how well some of the recent NCSL-to-CCL teams are doing (for example, Alexandria, Herndon) that the top NCSL teams compete at the top of CCL 1. I admit I was surprised to see this after drinking the CCL kool aid. Then we have CCL 2, which seems like such a waste of everybody's time--too much unevenness in the competition for it to be worth driving any kind of distance. NCSL seems to try to group younger teams teams roughly by ability while keeping kids pretty local until they get to promotion and relegation. One larger league seems like the way to go. |
Yep even with the CCL there is a big and consistent gap between clubs specially below u12. Above u12 it becomes a 2nd team league. Many times there are only one or two close games during the year. It’s just not productive for those involved. |
So you are saying our CCL2 1.5 hour drive to win nearly 20-0 was a waste of time? My kid would agree. |
At the older ages, with ECNL 2 on the horizon and DA, sorry CCL is no better than a 3rd team league. With EDP in the mix, CCL could be a 4th tier depending. |
The difference now is because of NCSL perhaps CCL will now be forced to start publishing their scores for all to see. |
I know what’s the draw/market they are appealing to...what’s its niche? |
Well, the only draw is going to be for the ULittles, right? Having done both: Competition is comparable and I MUCH prefer NCSL's willingness to keep the littlest kids local. |
| Time for both leagues to change strategy o go away. |
Would be nice to see more cross-conference play in tourneys. |
Teams play each other all the time. I have kids in the top NCSL Divisions and we play CCL teams at every conference and in futsal. |
