| Don't worry, OP. You can just use someone else's address like a bunch of Deal/Wilson families that I know. |
| Tip for a newbie: stay away from DCUM and friends who spend too much time on DCUM. No good comes of it. |
| DCUM wants you to check your privilege and immediately enroll at a low performing school where your high socio-economic status can help your *community* instead of your own child, you self-centered jerk. |
| To be clear, there was no automatic grandfathering the last go 'round. That came after the final announcement and "politically connected" Crestwood parents petitioned Bowser. I wouldn't the same would happen in the next boundary review. |
| *wouldn't assume the same |
| It’s actually an interesting question and probably dependent on who the mayor is. Probably won’t be Bowser. Would the math change if it was a white woman? |
| There is no knowledge or influence requirement to post on DCUM. |
Bowser wasn’t mayor at that time. |
| Sadly, its a fair question to ask. It’s pretty clear that DCPS is out of answers on how to make EOTP schools attractive. And it’s clear from the last go around that there is little appetite for city wide schools. So it’s possible another WOTP school gets sacrificed. And LaFayette makes the most sense geographically and has the scale to flip an EOTP MS overnight. In terms of Ward 3 LaFayette is a political powerhouse, but they are a drop in the bucket citywide. Especially for a mayor who may not run for a 3rd term to actually spend time with her new child. |
| And Crestwood is no longer part of Deal/Wilson since last re-boundary process. |
They could flip a middle school, but not a traditional high school. So if Lafayette parents stay through Ida B. Wells middle, they will overwhelm the application schools. SWW will be ok since they can interview to get the demographic they want, but Banneker (first) and Mckinly tech (next) will turn white and rich within 4-8 years. |
She “tweaked” the recommendations in favor of Crestwood after she was sworn in. |
Quelle horreur! We don't want THOSE people in our schools! But we DO want SOME of them (just not too many!) in particular places where we want to make them go. |
| It happed to John Eaton after 80 years of its students going to Deal. It can easily happen to Lafayette, particularly if Dac politics dictate that more people west of the park should have to sacrifice. |
I love you |
