Not when my DD played for Stoddert a few years ago - kids had forever to pay the bill. Also many of the parents were rich enough so that if their kid wanted to change clubs they just forfeited the deposit and moved on. I mean come on - contract? You are paying THEM. They can’t make your kid stay & play. |
They maybe not be able to go to another CCL team or Stoddert could hold their card. |
| They're saying that money is due by the first week in May. |
So are you staying or trying out for another club? If trying out for other clubs make sure you know about your card and the new club’s leagues rules(CCL will not let you play for another CCL team in a season). |
U11 and under seem to be starting out at different clubs too. The above, plus the newer startups like PPA, Achilles, and even DCYFC often have something Stoddert can't match. They're all more responsive to a niche that Stoddert didn't address PPA- flexibility, Achilles- development, DCYFC- flexibility with reasonable cost. No need to drive far to get soccer well suited to your kid and your needs. |
They can’t hold your card. No one does that - come on. Unless the season has started and your DD has played some games you have the commissioner or whatever she’s called get your card and reissue it for another team. Do we realize that this is a child’s activity that you are paying for?? |
LOL you do not understand how petty these clubs are. |
| So how are tryouts going? Any new players from outside the club show up? Any top kids not trying out? |
This, totally. PPA has 4 U12 teams and Stoddert now only has 3. Not sure about Achilles but I think they have at least 3 teams at U12. |
In Maryland, the team cannot refuse to release a player that requests to be released. The current club has a few days to confirm the player has no outstanding dues/fees. https://usys-assets.ae-admin.com/assets/984/15/MSYSA%202019%20Player-Rights-Obligations.pdf VA/DC may have a similar rule. |

Here is VYSAs release information
https://www.vysa.com/Default.aspx?tabid=2519941 |
|
Documentation of the financial agreement supporting the request must be submitted with the email. Failure to notify VYSA, could result in VYSA approving the release of the player. VYSA will notify the family that the transfer is being held until payment is made. A club or team must notify VYSA immediately upon payment (within two business days) to release the transfer request.
In the event that VYSA determines a club or team has placed a hold on a transfer in bad faith, the club or team may be sanctioned. |
So if you accept the Stoddert offer Stoddert(or any club) could ask for payment(full payment?) before the they released the card? Most people have no clue about this side of travel. |
That’s why there is a commissioner - your petty club rep has to do what is requested of her. |
