| I can absolutely tell, personally. The sparkle is so different and it’s harder to make out the facets. But I never say anything when I see them in case the woman is embarrassed. |
Lightbox won’t even sell non drilled full carats. |
She probably doesn't care. But then again, would you ever comment (I mean what would you even say? Say, I see you don't have a real diamond?) |
What do you mean non-drilled? Diamonds unset? |
| OP - have you thought about going with something meaningful like a birth stone? My ring is a pale sapphire - it doesn't look like a diamond, it's just not that dark blue like Kate Middleton has. Up until the diamond industry made everyone think that engagement rings had to be diamonds, people wore all kinds of beautiful colorful stones in their engagement rings (again, witness Kate Middleton). |
And yes, I know it was Princess Diana's ring, and probably a royal heirloom before that, but Kate has it now. |
| I love diamonds but wouldn’t waste the $ on expensive fakes like moissonite. Just do cz at that point. If you think spending money on diamonds is dumb, spending a lot of money on fakes is idiotic. I love diamonds and honestly the setting is the giveaway, most often. |
I have a moissanite and I love it. I would never go CZ because it’s too soft and won’t stand up to daily wear. I also have a few lab created sapphires. I can afford the mines stuff, but why? Lab gems are cheaper, better for the environment, and conflict free. |
Can you tell the difference between lab/earth-mined sapphires, emeralds? |
“Is that moissanite?” After all moissanite isn’t a fake diamond. |
I mean they’re literally drilling a hole in 1ct diamonds. They’re trying to cheapen synthetics. |
| Would you consider a lab diamond? |
DP. Lab sapphires and emeralds are completely "real" but they are so sparkly and have no inclusions that I think it's a giveaway that they're fake. I think if they made them in a way that had more imperfections they would look completely real. |
Why would you pay for to buy a shittier version of something? |
What are you talking about? Plenty of places sell lab created diamonds without holes in them. It’s just that diamonds can be lab created cheaply so there’s reason not to drill a hole in them if it fits the design. |
