A lot of people refer to their kids based on their grades. Pre School tends to be 4-5, older then Day Care but not in Elementary School.

Some snack platters (fruit, veggies with dip, maybe pretzels) would be fine. Let the kids snack if they want. Pizza at 3 would be fine but let the parents know in advance, I would count on making a smaller dinner for my kid if he had pizza at 3. But snacks before cake would work fine as well.

Pizza if at lunch or dinner time. For a 2pm party, it's the afternoon snack hour: fruit, pretzels, cheese, or veggies, then cake.
