What is the best gym in the area?

How could you recommend a gym like that? All of their machines are cheap and gaudy which can cause people to pull muscles. I went one time to a grand opening and just about had a muscle spasm running on their cheap treadmill.

They also offer bagels and pizza once a month.....which is rude to people trying to stay away from carbs.

I don't belong to Planet Fitness, but if you can't indulge in bagels and pizza once a month, you've got a problem. Every day? No. But dear god, live a little. There isn't a damn thing wrong with "carbs."

Carbs are the devil

The devil takes people further than they intended to go and keeps them longer than they intended to stay.

DP and you're not wrong, but it does seem rather odd for a gym to offer pizza.

I like Sport and Health but to be honest I would easily just go to Planet Fitness if it were close to my place.

Heard that Equinox is the best gym around.

+1 Whatever is close to your house, close to your office, easy to park at, or whatever else you need to make it easy.

+2

+3 I go to the Gold's that is three blocks from my house and is $25/mo through a deal with my health insurance. I just want a treadmill and weight machines.

No one is chubby just from eating pizza and bagels once a month.

I don't belong to or like PF, but I have worked out there on a free pass. Their machines won't make you pull a muscle. I mean, ffs, I read a lot of absurd stuff on this diet forum but "cheap treadmills pull my muscles" takes the cake.

Fitness Together, Georgetown. Expensive as all get out, but I love it, and it keeps me on track.

Costco sells a 2year contract for 24hour fitness. It's a decent gym and reasonably priced.

Does anyone go to Xsport? Do they have yearly contracts or can you do month to month?

I go to an independent gym near my house that’s open 24 hours and is almost always empty. More and more of these are popping up in the suburbs. It has a spin studio— I use it to stream peloton classes—TRX, good free weights and machines, up to date cardio equipment. It’s small but has everything I need. It’s $35 a month.

I disregarded this place for a long time because it wasn’t a chain, but honestly it is so nice— I’m so glad I found it. It’s like my own private gym.

I went to FT 7 years ago and loved it. If I could afford it and one was near me (I’ve moved since then) I would still go there. But like others have said, the best gym is one that is convenient to you. Which gyms are near your house or work? I work out in the morning so I only looked at gyms by my house. If you let us know those gyms, we can speak more honestly about those gyms vs what we prefer and our specific needs.
