Fellow vegetarian. This advice is not helpful if you do not eat because of religious reasons. |

Another fellow vegetarian, for 30 years now. Do not eat meat. Increase your weight training.
Never go hungry. Eats nuts and avocados when you need a pick me up. A teaspoon of peanut butter is great too (the no sugar kind, of course!). |
And some people choose not to eat animal flesh for moral non religious reasons. The first PP is very unhelpful (plus there are tons of vegetarian protein sources.) |
When you are short, 5 lbs can put you two clothing sizes up easy. |
| Forget the 5lbs as a number and just look for ways to get more active. Vegetarian since 11yo. I also had a nutritionist say to add more fat. I would like to lose some weight but I’ve never felt being a vegetarian hindered that |
This. You need to strength train. Forget about losing 5 lbs and instead lift heavy weights. |
The question still stands. Two clothing sizes up and you feel helpless? I feel for you in an actual distress situation. |
I agree with this 100%, but some women just seem to want to disappear. |
It's not helpful no matter what your reason for not eating meat. (Keto people really are something.) |

I'm a vegetarian, and I lost weight by cutting our dairy and refined sugars. This lead to a drastic decrease in processed foods, and I inevitably ate healthier, more whole foods. You can do this! As others have suggested, just add more healthy fats into your diet like no sugar nut butters and avocados, and if you are really need of more protein, there's always vegan protein powders.
Then do some cardio to lose a little weight, but really rely on strength training with weights. You won't be able to trust the scale because muscle weighs more than fat, but you'll easily notice a difference with the way you look and your clothes fit. |
. Np here. I get hung up on what exactly to add the nut butter and avocado to. I love sandwiches and wraps, but the bread adds carbs, right? How do you consumed nut butters and avocado, etc? |
Exactly. I am 5’4’’ and 128 lbs. I’d like to lose 7 lbs, which might seem like nothing to some of you, but it’s 5.5% of my body weight. That makes a big difference and isn’t easy. |
Are you a slob? If so, no one needs to hear from you. |
| Vegetarian male lost 20lb in 3 months. Cut all processed food. Do not buy any snack or breads. Cut all processed sugar and weight start dropping. You don’t need so much protein as advertised on internet. You simply need to eat less and do more physical activities. |
+1. Buy an Indian cook book and make a ton of dal. Eat that with some greens and you will lose weight and not be hungry. |
