they said they wont have a second HQ2.
Maryland would do well if it Got 1000-2000 of the 25000 jobs that was supposed to go to NYC. |
Not necessarily. You can have a presence there but not have your HQ there. Also, other billion dollar companies have a big presence there.. Google, etc.. |
A great site would be near the new Spiro T. Agnew Technology Cluster in Baltimore County. |
| As much as people like to think MD is separate from NoVa... and it is, and not that MD would get the rest of Amazon business anyway... but, it would be HQ2 just the same, and not two separate entities. |
Hagerstown? I have nothing against it, but why would you think that our of the blue after choosing NYC and NoVa they would want to be away from a major city? |
| And I reached out to Bar Rafeali. Didn't mean I ever had a chance. |
+1 |
| No on Hagarstown. Do they even have public transportation? Other than the outlet mall I can't think of anything else in that down worth stopping for. |
|
Why would they go to all the drama of finding a different location. All they have to do is just expand the NoVa site, they have already been given the green light and. I issies will creep up. VA is open for business whether Pople
Like that or not. |
+1. A huge of their issue is finding a pool of talent. An MD HQ plus a CA HQ pull from the same pool of people. At which point, it would make more fiscal sense to just expand the VA site. |
Sorry. An MD plus a VA site pull from the same talent pool... |
At some point, HQ2 is just the DMV. Hogan has to improve his talent pool. Better college tech. Better schools (and nixing the stupid after Labor Day start which ruins the AP test scores). Better tranportation. Otherwise, it could be more in Nashville instead. Which isn’t so bad. |
| Amazon already has a large presence here. MD and VA make no sense as those who live in MD just commute and/or work from home. They already have tons of jobs they cannot fill as they have very high standards for employees. |
Not a problem of issue at all. MD is one of the most educated states in the country. That labor day reasoning is silly. |
Labor Day is a non-issue. The curriculum, staff, large class sizes and no one cares at MCPS are far greater issues but Amazon doesn't care about that. MD workers just commute to VA as they do now. Amazon already has a huge presence here, just not a campus. They cannot fill the jobs they have aready. Transportation is also not really an issue. |
