Stomach bug... am I in the clear?

Anonymous
We have had two stomach bugs hit the house since October. Each time, kid 1 came down with it, a week later I came down with it and a week later DH came down with it. The baby missed the first but caught the second. The second time we were all clear of symptoms for two weeks and still managed to pass along to grandparents at Christmas. We were hyper vigilant because of the baby, but still couldn't isolate it. One bathroom is a killer.

How do you even know that you gave it to the grandparents? Assuming they had contact with other people.

Not the PP, but people like you always make me roll my eyes and avoid it, because you’re the people literally counting 24 hours (and rounding the number) since last fever or vomit, and carting everyone out in public, or rather, into close quarters like daycare, playgroups, and classes.

Yeah, like it or not, the grandparents probably caught it from the kids. Close quarters matter.

They are retirees who live in the country and my mother was housebound with a broken leg. We were by far the most likely vector.

I got it once when everyone else had been well for a week. I even slept on a damned air mattress in the living room for two days to avoid getting it from DH. We also had it about a week or maybe 10 days before DS2was born and my mom got it from DS1 when babysitting him while we were in the hospital.
