$1,000 is not at all "insane" to spend on a birthday party sorry. Yes you can obviously do it for less than that but if a parent has the means it's very easy to spend at least $1,000. |
Not sure what their rate is for party planning. I used them for a home organizing project and they charged an hourly rate, but can’t recall what it was. Email them and ask, they are perfectly happy to talk before you hire them. |
OP I am in the process of starting an event design business. I'd love to connect. Can you post a dummy email? |
I am an event planner and love kids birthdays! My experience with birthday parties has mainly been for my own kids and family. You can see some examples of my work here: https://pin.it/kh4okl7tqa7ia3
I’d be happy to discuss what you’re looking for to see if I could help you out. Email me if interested khanh.stenberg@gmail.com |
I just used someone for this. I was her first client! It was $300 for a first birthday and she took care of everything - it was so organized. Her name is Kristin - boxwoodandbloomevents at gmail |
This area is just insane. |
You have got to be kidding. |
I really like using Lush Life Events. All the decorations look so great and they are easy to work with. They do a great job working with different budgets.

Whatever you do do NOT use Georgetown parties. My child’s birthday was an embarrassment that I paid entirely too much for. She served food from dollar tree and tried to charges me catering prices. Never again. It gets worse then that but I’ll spare you the details. Best bet is to go with a place like Kidville or Busy Bees. They take care of it all. My daughter’s party at kidville was fabulous. |
Forget the party planner and look for an event company instead. If your budget can go up to 500, you should be able to put together a great rental package. Look up party rentals for kids in your area. Most companies will do the planning for free if you use their rentals or buy their supplies. |
I own an event company, and even I think it's insane. But the average bday party in NoVa does run about $500, and I've done a few that were up around 1K or even higher. For example, we had one at a lovely venue normally used for large weddings, and they had face-painters, balloon-twisters, entertainers, and so on. Others have gotten up there just by having a couple different entertainers (a single entertainer or artist charges 225-400 in this area), and then a pony ride or trackless train or something, so you only need a couple big things to hit the 1K mark. I'm only spending 300 on my own kids' party next week, and I feel like I've been frugal about it. |
The party bee does this. I think they’re in Alexandria or Arlington. |
