Ace Ventura - what age?

His response is so outrageously homophobic—the notion a man kissed him is absolutely repulsive and causes him to everything to sanitize himself from the “awful” experience. It’s queer panic at its highest.

That’s NOT a film I’d want for any 10/11 year old boy I know. This is the stuff that makes it okay to bash queer kids at school, in the locker rooms, on the bus, you name it.

This movie has not aged well. Leave it in the past.

That's not homophobic, that's tranny ickyness which is still not normalized.
What would you want your son to do , love being kissed by a man who claims to be a woman?

So you don’t get it and can’t draw ANY connections between scenes like that and gay bashing that is still happening in schools today. Got it, chief.

Why not shot your kids a movie that is actually good?

Hilariously stupid reaction.

For myself, all that gay/tranny stuff, plus the sex scene, is exactly why I'd keep my 10/11yo from watching it.

My kids saw it at 8 — generally ok but the kissing thing at the end is more than a little retro and jarring but we had a conversation about it

Very funny movie

I tried watching it with my eight year old. I hadn't seen it since it came out back in middle school. I remembered it being more family friendly. I turned it off when he started talking out of his ass. It hilarious to me when I was a kid. I immediately pictured getting an email from her teacher about it and turned it off. I forgot all about the villain being trans. Fortunately, we never got that far.

tip Common Sense Media is typically spot on when you have questions like this.

Go to the tab for what parent's and kids say and see for yourself if you are OK with it.

I find their suggestions to be rather conservative overall.

Sorry - I meant the tab for what parent's and kids say. I agree that Common Sense is more conservative - but it is a good starting point for decision making.
