Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| We have been very happy with Dr Kadowitz. i find her very responsive, and she has a great rapport with our kids. We've also had good experiences with Dr Snow and recently met with Dr Wheeler (for a minor matter), who seemed very nice. I find Dr Jones to be over the top, not just in his manner but also in his recommendations. |

We love Dr. Kadowitz. She's great. She has two toddlers herself and has a wonderful rapport with my 1 and 3 year olds. We liked Dr. Roche also.
We recommend avoiding Dr. Jones. He's very rude. |
| We've liked everyone we've actually seen there. Never seen Wheeler and have only talked to Jones on the phone...he was rather dismissive. I am not a fan of his. BUT, leaving him out of the equation, we have seen and adored Snow, Roche, Finkelstein, Kadowitz, Shearin and the NP (can't remember her name) and the LCs. Such a great practice!!! |
| Dr. Shearin and Dr. Jones. Yes, Dr. Jones is an odd duck but he is fantastic at diagnosing and has seen it all. Dr. Shearin is a big puppy dog whom my daughter loved even when she was petrified of other doctors, which she no longer is. |
| We LOVE Kadowitz -- find her very responsive and very sweet. Also saw Wheeler for a minor issue and liked her. I also really like Jones, but he is definitely not for everyone. He does spend a lot of time with his patients and is very thoughtful in his responses, but he probably could come across as sort of dry, so if you are looking for a very effusive pediatrician who is really going to hold your hand, that probably isn't him. That said, you will not feel neglected with him -- he will spend an hour with you doing a routine physical and will really listen to you. |
| We did not like Kadowitz at all. She was very dismissive and condescending. We like Jones, Pearl, Roche, Finkelstein, Wheeler, and Snow. Like PPs said, Jones is a bit odd, but he is very experienced (I think he's also the head of the practice). |

We actually love Dr. Jones.
He has always been very generous with his time with us and has explained things in great detail. My husband and I are both physicians (not in pediatrics) and are fairly picky about the providers our family sees. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the doctors in this group. |
| Like Dr. Wheeler a lot so far. |
| I think we've seen them all by now and haven't really disliked anyone. That said, we try to schedule first with Finkelstein - probably b/c we saw him first and stuck with him. We (Adults) like him a lot, but honestly, DD doesn't care for him too much. The only one DD doesn't cry for is Shearin - don't know how he does it, but DD laughs when he walks in. True, he pulls Elmo out of his pocket while she's in there, but even before that trick she laughs. He's really hard to see, though. And unlike most posters here, we also really liked Jones. He took lots of time with us and was really helpful in the beginning with addressing some of our fears and issues: (e.g., "mom, you need to get outside the house even if it's cold out" "well of course she cries when you put her down - you're her [1 month old] parents and you're job is to hold her"). |
This is so interesting - I would have said the EXACT same thing about Dr. Kadowitz, but she has grown on me. I don't think she does as well with first time parents those first few months - which is not great, but after a few visits (her schedule just happened to fit with ours a few times) she has really grown on me. I also like Dr. Jones though he is not my favorite. Holly, the LC, was out sick one day when I was having a hard time with mastitis/thrush, and Dr. Jones met with me, talked with her on the phone to work through what I should do, and was very professional examining me and did not make feel uncomfortable. And I think we've seen Pearl and Finklestein and also really like them. |
| I had a bad experience with the practice and switched to a sole practitioner. I could not be happier. He actually knows us and remembers us from one visit to another. |
I totally agree with this assessment of Jones. He is a bit dry but really practical and reassuring. And he does spend a ton of time with you. We saw him for the 6 month visit when we felt like DS wasn't really enjoying the solid foods we introduced. His answer to us was "of course he doesn't like it. Baby food is bland. Give him something that tastes good. And let him feed himself cheerios. If you give him a pile of them, one or two will get in his mouth and the rest will be on the floor or stuck to his face, but he will figure it out eventually, and it will keep him busy in the meantime." I feel like that is sort of him in a nutshell. |
| We've seen most of the doctors and had a positive experience with all of them, although I will say that I'd probably prefer any of them to Dr. Jones who I didn't click with. (My husband likes him, so maybe it's just a gender thing.) Dr. Roche has been amazing with our infant who has reflux, as she has some direct experience with this. Dr. Finklestein is adored by our older boy. We saw the newest addition Dr. Wheeler the other day, and I was frustrated over a long wait (not her fault) but she was so caring and just wonderful with the kids - I'd bring them back to her in a heartbeat. THere are certainly downsides to this practice - I've posted on other threads about some unpleasantness we had with the administrative staff - but honestly the quality of the care makes it all worthwhile. PS - we have also had great experiences with the nurses including Pat who has been a lifesaver during a recent illness and with Dr. Pluta who works GI issues there one day a week. |
