At the same time, besides the courts gutting the Indian Child Welfare Act, conservatives have long opposed policies that create racial preferences in adoption to minimize children of color being adopted by white people.

So race/ethnicity have a completely different status re: policy than religion it seems.

I am married and have two kids--guess what? All of us go by nicknames--not their legal names. And, DD even changed her nickname when in middle school. She goes by that with all her friends.
