Bump. We are considering this for our DS. He is 13 and this would be his fist time at a sleep away camp.

Sailing is no longer offered at Letts.

My kids have loved it for several years, including last year. It is a lot of outdoors time, so if you have a kid who lives for air conditioning, this is not the camp for them*. Definitely lifelong friends, tons of activities, fun traditions within bunks, competitions between bunks, etc. Amazing traditional outdoorsy camp, that doesn't cost a fortune and is flexible (you can register for one week or many).

My kids hope to become CITs and eventually counselors

*the dining hall IS air conditioned

Any fans for sleep cabin?

Yes, you have to send your kids with a fan (and an extension cord). And/Or, one of mine had a small, $10 battery operated fan from Home Depot.

It says on the webpage that sailing is included in the base fee now (rather than an add-on as before).

The website also includes facemasks on the packing list though. Were those really required last summer?!

We've attended family camp at Letts in years past and we always had high regard for the staff and counselors who went the extra mile to engage our kids and very helpful for adults trying new water sports!! Cabins are hot and in need of repair but we rarely spent time inside. We did have issues with a few windows not opening and tears in window screens but heck we could have slept outside.

Our friends sent kids in recent years for the first time and ALL are returning because they loved the camp and friends they made! We are hoping ours will finally agree to sleep away camp this summer.

Food poisoning due to water ( We believe)
I do not like ketchup
They took away our Plastic Knives,
camp Letts?
more like camp let's go home.
Made us sick ( My friends experienced)
and non sanitary beds
toilet don't work
shower not warm
and food took forever to get served, and made us stay outside for extra time in the cold weather.
Food quality was poor.
Air circulation in the bathroom didn't work as well, so it made it smell horrible
Overall it wasn't a fun experience

How hot are the cabins at Camp Letts? Is it tough for more heat-sensitive kids to sleep well there?

The cabins have AC as of summer 2024
